I bought these as camp shoes for a Philmont Trek. I tried comparable Crocs, but they did not have enough arch support for me, and my feet tended to slide forward, causing my toes to get pushed into the front of the shoes. This of course was uncomfortable. The ChayChax shoes have just the right amount of arch support, and the soles are a bit softer and more pliable than Crocs. This prevents your feet from sliding forward in the shoe. I'd say they were perfect for my feet, and they certainly helped me relax after a long day of hiking.Regarding weight, the ChayChax were exactly 0.9 pounds, compared to 1.0 pounds for my son's size 11 Crocs. Definitely worth the weight, and they would have made safe water shoes for a river crossing had we needed them.
